Daily Sudoku: one new puzzle every day
The Daily Sudoku is a single puzzle that changes every day and is the same for every player. It is a simple way to build a short, regular solving habit and to compare your time with others on the same grid.
How the Daily Sudoku works
- A new puzzle appears each day; everyone who plays that day gets the same grid.
- The calendar shows past days, so you can go back and solve a puzzle you missed.
- Every puzzle has exactly one solution and can be solved with logic alone, without guessing.
- Hints, pencil marks and the timer work the same way as in the other Sudoku levels.
How to approach a daily puzzle
- Start by scanning: pick a digit and check each box for the one cell where it can go (a hidden single).
- When scanning stops working, write candidates in the empty cells.
- Fill any cell that has only one candidate left (a naked single), and update the notes around it.
- If you get stuck, look for locked candidates and pairs before reaching for advanced techniques.
Building a habit
A daily puzzle works best when it fits into your day. Many players solve it at the same time each day, for example with morning coffee or on a commute. Rather than chasing the fastest time, aim to solve without hints and without errors; speed follows once the techniques become automatic.
Tracking your progress
If you sign in, your results are saved across devices. Comparing your times week by week shows progress more reliably than any single puzzle, because the difficulty of individual daily puzzles can vary.
Solving Techniques
View All Techniques →Naked and hidden singles
When a cell has one candidate left, or a digit has only one place in a unit. Almost every easy puzzle is solved with these.
Learn →Locked candidates
When a box’s candidate is confined to one row or column (pointing), or the reverse (claiming), the same candidates outside are removed.
Learn →Pairs and triples
If two cells share the same two candidates (naked pair) or two digits fit only two cells (hidden pair), other candidates in the unit go.
Learn →X-Wing and Swordfish
When a digit in two (or three) rows is confined to the same columns, it is removed from the rest of those columns. Key to hard puzzles.
